Three New Sites Selected: Shindaebang 3 Zone, Heukseok 10 Zone, and Sangdo 23 Zone
Housing redevelopment projects in the Shindaebang-dong, Heukseok-dong, and Sangdo-dong areas of Dongjak-gu, Seoul, are gaining momentum. On July 3, Dongjak-gu announced that three locations within the district were finally selected as candidates for the Rapid Integrated Planning Redevelopment at the '3rd Seoul Housing Redevelopment Candidate Site Selection Committee of 2025,' which was held on June 30.
The newly selected sites are the 344-132 Shindaebang-dong area (Shindaebang 3 Zone), the 204-104 Heukseok-dong area (Heukseok 10 Zone), and the 201 Sangdo-dong area (Sangdo 23 Zone), all of which are regions in urgent need of residential environment improvement.
The 344-132 Shindaebang-dong area, located near Boramae Park, has met the requirements for access roads. The 204-104 Heukseok-dong area has undergone a preliminary feasibility study that considered its designation as a scenic area, and plans are in place to establish infrastructure in connection with future nearby housing projects.
The 201 Sangdo-dong area is an old low-rise residential neighborhood with high population density and a high proportion of semi-basement homes. Through the Rapid Integrated Planning, it is expected that a residential environment harmonized with surrounding housing redevelopment projects can be established.
The district plans to begin the Rapid Integrated Planning and maintenance plan establishment services for these candidate sites in the second half of this year, accelerating the creation of high-quality residential complexes. The Rapid Integrated Planning system is a policy in which the Seoul Metropolitan Government provides guidelines that balance public interest and business feasibility to speed up redevelopment and reconstruction projects, and supports the establishment of various plans and the approval process.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, stated, "With the selection of these Rapid Integrated Planning redevelopment candidate sites, we will improve the deteriorated residential environment in the area and make Dongjak a better place to live," adding, "We will continue to provide administrative support so that ongoing maintenance projects can proceed quickly."
