Min Hyungbae, a National Assembly member from the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gwangsan-eul), has made it clear that he intends to accelerate prosecutorial reform.

On July 2, Min wrote on his Facebook page, "I will put the prosecutorial reform bill on the table for Chuseok," and added, "By September, I will dismantle the Prosecutors' Office. If we delay any longer, the rice will burn and so will the reform."

Min emphasized, "This afternoon, I held a forum on prosecutorial reform," and continued, "We reviewed the four prosecutorial reform bills that I proposed together with Kim Yongmin and Jang Kyungtae, which include the abolition of the Prosecutors' Office, complete separation of investigation and indictment, establishment of a Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, a Public Prosecution Office, and a National Investigation Commission."

He went on to say, "Both Jeong Cheongrae and Park Chandae, who are running for Democratic Party leader, have firmly promised prosecutorial reform," and stressed, "Speed is of the essence now. This is a historic task that allows for neither hesitation nor failure."

He continued, "While the 21st National Assembly hesitated, Yoon rose to the presidency and ruined the country, and political prosecutors became the shadow of insurrection," adding, "They colluded with accomplices using Bi-hwa phones, and even when the ringleader of the insurrection was released, they did not even appeal."

Min added, "Listing all their crimes is enough to leave one breathless," and insisted, "This time, we must see it through to the end. There is no time for talk of adjusting the pace or negotiating. Now is the time to move straight ahead."
