The Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) is supporting special zone companies in expanding overseas by leveraging global public-private partnerships.
On July 2, the Foundation announced that it had co-hosted the '2025 Evonik Day' at the Grand InterContinental Parnas Hotel in Seoul, together with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, and Germany's Evonik Industries (Evonik).

This event, held as part of the Foundation's 'Small but Strong Special Zone Global Cooperation Support Program,' took the form of one-on-one investment consultations and an investment attraction seminar.
The purpose of the event was to accelerate the overseas expansion of special zone companies through cooperation with global companies in areas such as technology transfer, joint research, and commercialization.
Evonik is a leading German specialty chemicals company that entered the Korean market in 1989 through the establishment of Degussa Korea. The company is currently expanding into new fields such as biopharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and personal care, and is interested in identifying strategic partnership opportunities with domestic companies possessing innovative technologies.
Prior to the event, the Foundation and participating organizations conducted a preliminary demand survey targeting special zone companies nationwide, identifying 26 promising companies whose fields of cooperation and technological needs matched those of Evonik. Among these, 14 companies were selected for one-on-one investment and cooperation consultations.
During the investment attraction seminar, Evonik introduced its global open innovation strategy and promising areas for collaboration, while four companies, including special zone companies, presented their technologies in a pitching session. At this session, Evonik highly evaluated the presenting companies' technological capabilities and agreed to explore concrete follow-up cooperation measures.
Jung Heekwon, Chairman of the Foundation, stated, "I hope this event has served as an opportunity to introduce the deep-tech technologies of special zone companies to the global market and to create tangible opportunities for collaboration," adding, "The Foundation will continue to strengthen global partnerships based on public-private cooperation to actively support the overseas expansion and growth of special zone companies."
