The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI, President Cho Jeonghee), in collaboration with the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), will host the '2025 Smart Port Technology and Industry International Forum' at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX) on July 3.
This forum is organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and supported by the Busan Port Authority (BPA).
The forum, under the theme of 'Port Innovation through Smart Technology Integration and Decarbonization Strategies,' will consist of three sessions: ▲Port Decarbonization ▲Next-Generation Automation Technologies ▲Data-Driven Operational Strategies. Each session will feature presentations by domestic and international experts in ports and logistics, as well as in-depth panel discussions.
As a response to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s '2050 Carbon Neutrality' target, the global port industry is prioritizing the adoption of automation and eco-friendly systems. Accordingly, this forum is expected to provide an opportunity to examine the current transformation of the global port industry and to share solutions for enhancing the competitiveness of Korea's smart port technologies.
Cho Jeonghee, President of KMI, stated, "Smart technology and decarbonization are not only survival strategies but also growth engines for ports worldwide," adding, "We will use this forum as a catalyst to accelerate policy support for building a technological ecosystem in Korea's port industry and strengthening global cooperation."
The forum is expected to attract a large number of participants from the shipping, logistics, and port sectors, including industry, academia, research, and government. It will also be broadcast live online through KMI's official YouTube channel.
