According to the district on July 2, the Alley Economy Situation Board was created to provide a comprehensive overview of the locations, business distributions, merchant association statuses, and progress of specialized projects for 119 alley-type shopping districts across 18 neighborhoods.

District Chief Kim Ikang plans to directly monitor changes in the alley economy and residents' perceptions through the situation board and to promptly implement follow-up measures. The installation of this situation board is regarded as a symbolic step that embodies Seo-gu's long-standing emphasis on the 'neighborhood-centered local government' model and its philosophy of resident-centered communication and administration.

Kim Ikang stated, "Alley-type shopping districts are not merely designated commercial areas; they are the living sites of the local economy. By directly managing the current status from the chief's office, we will enhance the execution of the Alley Economy 119 project and take the lead in restoring livelihoods."

Last month, the district completed the designation of all alley-type shopping districts within its jurisdiction and declared itself 'Korea's No. 1 Alley Economy.' Going forward, it plans to sequentially implement follow-up policies for practical revitalization of the alley economy, including operating on-site offices in alley districts, launching campaigns for Onnuri gift certificate affiliation and usage, and providing customized support based on AI-driven commercial district analysis.
