"Protecting Athletes' Rights and Enhancing Welfare"
Han-Soo Ryu, wrestling coach at Jeonju University (President Park Jinbae), has been elected as the 42nd athlete representative of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.
According to Jeonju University on July 1, Han-Soo Ryu is a former national representative who has led Korean wrestling, achieving outstanding results in numerous international competitions during his time as a national athlete, including two World Wrestling Championships titles and two consecutive gold medals at the Asian Games.

Since being appointed as the wrestling coach at Jeonju University in January this year, he has made significant contributions to improving the skills of student athletes and raising the national profile of the university's wrestling team.
The athlete representative of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee is responsible for protecting athletes' rights and welfare, promoting the Olympic spirit, and providing policy advice, ensuring that the voices from the sports field are reflected in policy decisions. Coach Ryu will serve as an athlete representative for the next four years, and he is expected to contribute to the development of sports in Korea by leveraging his experience as a national wrestling athlete and his expertise.
Coach Ryu stated, "I will do my utmost to ensure that athletes' voices are reflected in sports policies, and to contribute to the advancement of Korea's sports industry by protecting athletes' rights and improving their welfare."
Meanwhile, Jeonju University plans to further support the development of sports in the Jeonbuk region, taking Han-Soo Ryu's election as an athlete representative as an opportunity to strengthen its efforts.
Additionally, the university will work closely with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to actively cooperate for the successful bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, aiming for mutual growth between the region and the university.
