Yuyu Pharma Launches "Yuyu (YOU-Yu) Campaign" with Ministry of National Defense

Supporting the Korean War Remains Recovery Project
with Health Supplements

Yuyu Pharma announced on July 1 that it will launch the "Yuyu Campaign" in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery & Identification (hereafter referred to as KIA Recovery Agency) to promote the expansion of the Korean War remains recovery project.

The Yuyu Campaign carries the message: "YOU and your acquaintances could also be bereaved families." The campaign aims to revitalize the national veterans project by locating the remains of over 120,000 unrecovered soldiers, conducting DNA tests with bereaved families, and enshrining the identified soldiers at the National Cemetery.

Any citizen of the Republic of Korea can participate in the campaign. After checking whether there are any unrecovered Korean War casualties within eight degrees of kinship on either the paternal or maternal side, participants can call 1577-5625 and follow the provided instructions. The process then involves a simple sample collection procedure, in which participants rub the inside of their mouth with a sponge stick at a nearby military unit, military/veterans/Red Cross hospital, or public health center. Participants will receive a commemorative gift and health supplements upon sample collection. If they are confirmed as bereaved family members, a reward of 100,000 won will be given, and if the identity of a Korean War casualty is confirmed through their DNA, a reward of 10 million won will be awarded to the family representative.

Yuyu Pharma is providing the health supplements given to bereaved families who participate in the DNA sample collection, and, together with the KIA Recovery Agency, will conduct both online and offline promotional activities to raise public awareness and encourage participation in the Yuyu Campaign.

The Korean War remains recovery project marks its 25th anniversary this year. To date, the remains of over 11,460 fallen soldiers have been recovered. This year as well, around 100,000 service members are being deployed to battle sites of the Korean War to search for national heroes. The only way to identify the recovered remains of these heroes is by comparing and analyzing their DNA with that of their bereaved families.
