Guri City Council Holds Meeting with Guri City Veterans Association Executives

Focusing on Honoring National Merit Recipients and Their Families
on the 75th Anniversary of the Korean War

The Guri City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Shin Donghwa) held a meeting with the executives of the Guri City Veterans Association at a local restaurant on the 30th.

This meeting was organized to mark the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the 6·25 Korean War, to listen to the difficulties faced by the veterans' organizations, and to commend the executives for their hard work. More than 20 people attended, including city council members and executives of the Veterans Association.


At the meeting, Lee Hyunwook, president of the 6·25 War Veterans Association, expressed his sincere gratitude to the council for not neglecting to honor veterans, mentioning that he had presented a plaque of appreciation to Chairman Shin Donghwa on behalf of the Guri City Council at the 75th anniversary ceremony of the 6·25 Korean War held on the 25th. He also thanked the council for increasing the veterans' honor allowance and for establishing the "Participation Hero Allowance" for 6·25 war veterans.


In response, Chairman Shin Donghwa stated that he will continue to prioritize honoring not only the 6·25 war veterans but also all those who have dedicated their lives to the nation and the local community in his council activities.


Chairman Shin Donghwa said, "This year marks the meaningful 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the 6·25 Korean War and the 80th anniversary of Liberation. Honoring those who fought and sacrificed their lives to establish and defend the foundations of the country is the duty of all citizens. Going forward, the Guri City Council will make every effort to ensure that there is no lack in honoring national merit recipients and their families, and we will also do our best to expand educational programs to instill this spirit of respect for veterans in future generations."
