Voluntary Participation by Lawyers' Union
First Labor-Management Cooperation at a Public Institution Under the New Administration
Following the executives and management staff of the Korea Legal Aid Corporation (President Kim Youngjin), the corporation's lawyers have also agreed to a voluntary salary reduction.
This marks the first case since the launch of the new administration in which labor and management at a public institution have autonomously cooperated.
On the 30th, at the Seoul Central Branch of the Korea Legal Aid Corporation in Seocho-dong, Seoul, Kim Youngjin, President of the Corporation, and Park Jonghang, Chairman of the 2nd Labor Union, are taking a commemorative photo at the signing ceremony of the "2025 Voluntary Salary Reduction Agreement." Korea Legal Aid Corporation.
On the 30th, the corporation held a signing ceremony for the "2025 Voluntary Salary Reduction Agreement" at the Seoul Central Branch in Seocho-dong, Seoul.
This declaration ceremony was organized as the 2nd Labor Union, composed of lawyers belonging to the corporation and led by Chairman Park Jonghang, voluntarily decided to participate in the salary reduction.
Through the first and second declaration ceremonies last year, the corporation's executives, senior managers, and general managers had already voluntarily declared salary reductions and a freeze on their compensation.
As a result, all executives, managers at grade 4 or higher, and lawyers?excluding general staff who are members of the 1st Labor Union?are now participating in the salary reduction.
The corporation stated that this is significant because, as a public institution dedicated to protecting the legitimate rights of the people, its employees have chosen to make voluntary sacrifices to empathize with and share in the hardships of the public amid difficult economic conditions.
At the declaration ceremony, Park Jonghang, Chairman of the 2nd Labor Union, said, "We made the decision to participate on our own, considering the public nature and sustainability of the corporation. As the public faces economic difficulties, we believe public institutions should also share in the responsibility."
President Kim Youngjin stated, "This declaration not only restores trust and fairness within the organization, but also once again demonstrates the attitude that public institutions should uphold before the public. As an institution responsible for ensuring the people's legitimate legal welfare, we will continue to maintain a proactive and practical approach."
