After holding a general meeting of lawmakers at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 30th, Song met with reporters and stated, "Today marks the end of Kim Yongtae's term as emergency response committee chair. Starting tomorrow, I, as the floor leader, will temporarily take on the role of committee chair to form the party's highest decision-making body."

He further explained, "Tomorrow, through the Standing National Committee and the National Committee, we will form the emergency response committee."

Song added, "The emergency response committee will serve as a temporary decision-making body until a new party leadership is elected at the party convention. Although the short period limits the number of activities we can undertake, I have emphasized that this committee should become a decision-making body that can fundamentally reform itself, fight, engage in struggle, and present alternatives as a renewed opposition party."

He also noted, "There were no objections," and "Many lawmakers agreed."

Kim Yongtae, who was appointed as the emergency response committee chair on May 12, succeeding former chair Kwon Youngse, completes his term today after 49 days in the position.

In his farewell press conference held at the National Assembly in the morning, Kim stated, "I do not believe that my current role is to run in the party convention. I will return to my position as a regular lawmaker and work to unite my fellow and senior lawmakers around the cause of reform."

Song Eonseok is expected to form a "management-type emergency response committee" to prepare for the party convention scheduled for August.
