Vision for 'Sustainable Entertainment' on the 20th Anniversary of Foundation
Hive announced on the 30th that it has published the "2024 Sustainability Management Report." Under the vision of "For Sustainable Entertainment," the report details its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management strategies and achievements.
The report focuses on four key issues: ethical management and compliance, creating a healthy and flexible work environment, information security and personal data protection, and improving customer (fan) experience. Hive selected these as core issues through a double materiality assessment, identifying agenda items with significant environmental and social impact as well as financial impact.
To strengthen governance, Hive established a Compliance Office under the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) last year. The company enacted an Ethics Charter and Code of Ethics, and established internal audit and regulation management systems. These measures are aimed at enhancing transparency and reliability in corporate operations.
Hive also reinforced its management systems for information security and personal data protection. Weverse Company obtained ISO 27001 certification, while Hive IM acquired ISMS certification. Hive itself expanded its information asset management system by obtaining ISO 27001 certification in 2023.
To improve the work environment, Hive implemented initiatives such as CEO tea-time meetings, employee satisfaction surveys and welfare system upgrades, the entertainment industry’s first in-house medical clinic, and family invitation events for employees. Hive plans to continuously strengthen its organizational culture of active communication and collaboration.
In the environmental sector, Hive promoted the Weverse Album Standardization Project, which excludes non-recyclable coated processing and applies sustainable paper materials. This guideline has been applied to albums by artists under Hive Music Group APAC.
To protect creators and creative works, Hive launched the integrated reporting site "HYBE Protect." Last year, Hive worked with overseas customs authorities to crack down on more than 3,400 counterfeit goods, and detected approximately 290,000 illegal products on domestic and international online malls. The company also took action against over 10,000 cases of unauthorized distribution of paid artist videos.
Hive continued its contributions to the local community. Seventeen was appointed as UNESCO’s first-ever youth goodwill ambassador and carried out the "Going Together" campaign to improve educational environments for children and adolescents. In March of this year, Hive donated 1 billion KRW to restore national heritage damaged by wildfires in the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions.
In its third Sustainability Management Report, Hive presented the following core goals for sustainable management: advancing ideas to enrich fans’ lifestyles, shaping the future of the entertainment industry together with the community, and establishing governance that sets the standard for the entertainment industry.
The Hive Sustainability Management Committee stated, "As we approach our 20th anniversary in 2025, we are realizing our vision for sustainable entertainment," adding, "We will continue to pursue a sustainable future together with all stakeholders, transparently disclose our achievements, and keep striving for improvement."
