The Youth Basic Income is a policy that provides 250,000 KRW per quarter, up to a maximum of 1,000,000 KRW per year, to 24-year-old residents of Pocheon City in the form of the Pocheon Love Gift Certificate (a card-type local currency). The program is designed to support the economic independence of young people and to promote the local economy.

The benefit can be used at local affiliated stores, including traditional markets and small businesses within the region, but it cannot be used at department stores, large discount stores, or entertainment venues. Payments will begin sequentially from September 10.

Notably, starting this quarter, the Youth Basic Income can also be used to pay for academy tuition and test application fees, and online payments for these categories will be available throughout Gyeonggi Province. These changes will be implemented from September, following consultations with Gyeonggi Province and card companies.

Eligible applicants are 24-year-olds born between July 2, 2000, and July 1, 2001. As of the application date, applicants must be registered residents of Pocheon City and must have lived in Gyeonggi Province for at least three consecutive years or for a total of at least ten years.

Applications can be submitted online through the Gyeonggi-do Job Platform 'Jobaba Apply' (https://apply.jobaba.net). For those who have difficulty applying online, exceptions allow for in-person applications at eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers.

Applicants must submit a copy of their resident registration (issued after July 1) that includes their address history for either the past five years or their entire history. Submission can also be done automatically using the public MyData service. Recipients of basic livelihood security benefits must submit additional relevant certification documents.

Existing recipients who selected automatic application in the previous quarter will be reviewed without a separate application process. However, those with changes in personal information or a history of non-selection must reapply. Basic livelihood security recipients must also submit supporting documents.

A Pocheon City official stated, "We hope the Youth Basic Income will provide practical support for the livelihood stability and self-development of local youth," adding, "We will actively provide guidance to ensure that as many young people as possible participate within the application period."
