Carrying Out Hometown Love in Action and More
Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok is greeting fellow members of the Incheon Honam Association at the reappointment ceremony of Oh Myungsuk, the 31st president of the Incheon Honam Association, held on the afternoon of the 28th at the auditorium of Incheon Jeil High School. Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, attended the "60th Regular General Meeting and Inauguration Ceremony of the 31st President" of the Incheon Honam Association held at Incheon Jeil High School on the 28th. He also carried out activities to practice hometown love and strengthen bonds, such as hosting a "Hometown Visit and Provincial Affairs Briefing Session" for the Chungbuk Honam Association.
At the Incheon Honam Association event, Oh Myungsuk, who represents one million Honam natives living in Incheon, was reappointed as the 31st president.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do; Choi Soonmo, President of the National Honam Association; Park Jongmyung, President of the Seoul Honam Association; local National Assembly members from Incheon; and approximately 500 association members.
Oh Myungsuk stated, "Together with one million members, I will do my utmost to further develop the Incheon Honam Association and fulfill a responsible role in the local community," adding, "I will also take the lead in recruiting supporters for the Jeonnam Sarangae Supporters group and promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program to contribute to the development of my hometown."
Governor Kim emphasized, "The Incheon Honam Association has faithfully served as a bridge to our hometown, greatly contributing to expanding Jeollanam-do's reach. Jeollanam-do will do its best to become a hometown that our members can be proud of. We will surely realize key provincial initiatives such as the establishment of Jeollanam Special Self-Governing Province and the attraction of a national medical school to repay your support."
On the same day, Jeollanam-do held a provincial affairs briefing session for the Chungbuk Honam Association, whose members visited Mokpo and Shinan to see the natural scenery and development sites of their hometown. Various events were held, including a certificate presentation ceremony for the Jeonnam Hometown Love Donation Program Hall of Fame and a "Hometown Love Support Performance" through joining the Jeonnam Sarangae Supporters group.
At the Chungbuk Honam Association, Park Jungkyum, the president, donated 3 million won; Choi Singyun, the vice president, donated 3 million won; Lee Gyelok, the secretary-general, donated 3.7 million won; and 30 members together donated 3 million won, for a total of 12.7 million won in Hometown Love Donations to Jeollanam-do. As a result, they were honored to be inducted into the "Jeonnam Hometown Love Donation Program Hall of Fame."
Park Jungkyum, the president, said, "I am deeply moved and proud to see how much our hometown has changed," and added, "I will do my best to help ensure that important issues for our hometown, such as the establishment of Jeollanam Special Self-Governing Province and the attraction of a national medical school, are successfully achieved."
