Special Prosecutor Concludes Yoon Interrogation... Expected to Return Home Before Midnight After Reviewing Statement Yonhap News Agency

The special prosecutor's office announced to the media that at approximately 9:50 p.m. on the same day, it had finished questioning former President Yoon as a suspect and that he was currently reviewing the written statement.

The special prosecutor's team began questioning Yoon at around 10:14 a.m., focusing on allegations that in January he ordered the Presidential Security Service to block the execution of an arrest warrant issued by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials. However, Yoon's side refused to participate in the questioning, objecting to the presence of Park Changhwan, Chief Superintendent and Head of the Major Crimes Investigation Division at the National Police Agency, as an interrogator. As a result, the special prosecutor's team was unable to properly complete the investigation into this matter.

Consequently, the investigation shifted to the process of Cabinet approval before and after the declaration of martial law and to allegations of foreign exchange violations. The questioning resumed at approximately 4:45 p.m. with a deputy chief prosecutor leading the session.

With Yoon's consent, a late-night interrogation was also conducted for 50 minutes starting at 9 p.m. after dinner. However, the special prosecutor's team determined that it would be physically impossible to complete the investigation within the day, so they concluded the questioning and began the review of the written statement.

After reviewing the investigation details, the special prosecutor's team plans to coordinate with Yoon's side to set an additional date for a follow-up summons.
