The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on the 28th that it held the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the 13th and 14th presidents.

The ceremony, held on the 27th at the Lavender Hall of Ramada Chungjang Hotel, was attended by Kim Byungjun, President of the Community Chest of Korea, Kang Gijung, Mayor of Gwangju, and about 150 other participants, including officials. The event included a video presentation of activities, the presentation of commemorative plaques for outgoing and current presidents, a farewell address, the awarding of the appointment certificate and inaugural address by the new president, congratulatory remarks from guests, a plaque presentation and handprinting ceremony for fully paid members of the Honor Society, and an induction ceremony for new Honor Society members.

During his three-year term, President Park Cheolhong exceeded all fundraising targets for the year-end Hope Sharing Campaign. In addition, 34 new members joined the Honor Society, a group of major individual donors, and the number of companies recognized as "Sharing Model Companies" increased from three to 21.

The official term of the new president, Koo Jaegil, will begin on the 1st of next month and will last for three years. During this period, he will lead efforts to promote a culture of sharing for neighbors in need in the region, representing the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea.

Koo Jaegil currently serves as the chairman of Sejong Medical Foundation, which operates Sejong Hospital and Sejong Nursing Hospital, and as the CEO of Kumho, Songjeong, and Hwasun Funeral Homes. He previously served as an international director of Lions Clubs International and as chairman of the Korean Association, and has now been inaugurated as the 14th president of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea. Koo Jaegil is the 82nd member of the Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae Honor Society, as well as the 16th "Couple Honor" member. He also served as the representative of the Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae Honor Society, leading more than 40 new members to join.

Park Cheolhong, the 13th president who completed his three-year term, stated, "I will never forget the people I met who worked for the development of community welfare over the past three years," and added, "I am grateful to all donors, including the Honor Society members who gave generously despite the economic downturn."

Koo Jaegil, the new president, said, "It is a great honor and a tremendous responsibility to be entrusted with the role of president of the Community Chest," and added, "Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae will go beyond fundraising and distribution to take the lead in encouraging corporate social contribution, promoting a spirit of community, and spreading the value of the common good throughout society."
