Gwangju Christian Hospital announced on June 28 that it held the "18th Patient Safety and Infection Control Week" under the theme "Power up! Safety Go! Infection Stop!" for four days from June 23 to 26.
This event was organized for staff, patients, and caregivers to raise awareness of patient safety, emphasize the importance of infection control, and promote a culture of safety within the hospital.
On the first day, the event began with a leadership patient safety rounding, during which the hospital management visited the wards in person to listen to the opinions of patients and staff. In particular, through the "Patient Safety Speak Up Campaign," patients were encouraged to speak directly about safety issues, once again highlighting the importance of safety.
During the event period, medical staff and employees participated in hands-on experiences such as wearing Level-D protective suits and relearning proper hand hygiene methods. Various fun and engaging activities were also held to encourage active participation from patients, caregivers, and staff in creating a safe hospital environment, including fall prevention, promoting healthy eating habits, encouraging the reporting of near-miss incidents, and ensuring the appropriate use of antibiotics. These activities received a great response.
On the last day of the event, Professor Kim Sangdon (Catholic University Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital) delivered a special lecture on the theme "We Create the Patient Experience."
In addition, an exhibition titled "Our Department's Safe Medication Story" was held in the hospital lobby to share each department's commitments and strategies, and awards were presented to outstanding departments.
