The Sejong City Office of Education announced on June 27 that it held the first half general meeting of the Regional Neulbom Council at the Government Sejong Convention Center.
The Regional Neulbom Council is a consultative body established to facilitate cooperation and exchanges between schools and local care institutions. It is composed of 104 members, including 23 Neulbom support team leaders, 57 school general elementary care managers (including those from special schools), and 24 local care institution center directors.
Thirteen central schools serve as regional hubs, hosting small group meetings and capacity-building training sessions. Members from schools and local care institutions collaborate through these activities. The city office of education has allocated a budget of 25 million KRW to support the operation of the Regional Neulbom Council.
The general meeting included programs such as sharing best practices from Neulbom Schools and local care institutions, as well as expert lectures and Q&A sessions.
On this day, Professor Jung Jaehoon from the Department of Social Welfare at Seoul Women's University delivered a lecture titled "Neulbom School as a Community Education and Care Hub: Suggestions for a Sustainable Korean Society."
Vice Superintendent Cheon Beomsan emphasized, "Close cooperation between schools and the local community is essential for the effective operation of Neulbom Schools," adding, "I hope this council will serve as a key opportunity to connect schools and local care institutions and to foster the Neulbom ecosystem for the children of Sejong."
