The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development held the "2nd Digital Research and Development Forum for Korean Medicine: AI and Korean Medicine, Drawing the Future" today at the Hanullim Community Center, Seoul Branch, where the direction of convergence research and development (R&D) between artificial intelligence (AI) and Korean medicine was explored in depth.

This forum focused on expanding the scope of AI-based Korean medicine R&D and identifying technological needs, building on the outcomes discussed at the first forum.


Experts from industry, academia, and research institutions, as well as government officials, attended the event to exchange a wide range of opinions. In particular, they conducted an in-depth review of potential digital convergence projects in the field of Korean medicine, in connection with "AI," a core national agenda of the new government.


The forum generated numerous innovative ideas, including proposals for discovering practical projects and exploring the future potential of AI-based Korean medicine technologies.


The participants reached a consensus on the importance of strengthening government policy support and establishing collaborative systems among industry, academia, and research institutions to advance R&D in Korean medicine integrated with AI technologies.


Lee Junhyuk, Head of the R&D Innovation Division at the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, said, "This forum was a very meaningful opportunity to directly hear the voices of the industry in order to set a practical direction for the digital transformation of Korean medicine," adding, "We will continue to gather diverse opinions and systematically develop future growth engines for digital R&D in Korean medicine."


This forum is expected to serve as an important milestone in strengthening the future competitiveness of Korean medicine using AI technologies and securing new growth engines.
