The center is a community-based integrated sports facility that can be used by both people with disabilities and those without. This project was selected in 2019 for the "Community-Based National Sports Center for People with Disabilities" competition, and a total of 16.56 billion won was invested, including 4 billion won in national and provincial funding.
The center consists of one basement level and two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,996 square meters. Inside, there is an aquatic exercise room with four 25-meter lanes, a fitness room, and a multipurpose gymnasium.
Prior to the official opening, the city operated the center on a trial basis starting March 21. The city plans to promote community sports by offering a variety of customized programs for people with disabilities at the center.
Mayor Jung stated, "Hwaseong Bandabi Sports Center is a space for integration and harmony, where people with and without disabilities can sweat and communicate together," adding, "Going forward, we will make sports a key driver of urban development and move toward becoming a sustainable sports city."
