Hampyeong County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 26th that it had conducted a basic farming technology training course to support the stable settlement of return-to-farm and return-to-village residents in rural areas.

The completion ceremony for the new farmers' basic farming technology training, held on the 25th at the Hampyeong County Agricultural Technology Center, was attended by more than 40 graduates, including Hampyeong County Governor Lee Sangik, return-to-farm and return-to-village residents, and young new farmers.

The training was conducted over a total of 15 sessions from March 12 to June 25. It was designed to strengthen the capabilities of new farmers in the early stages of returning to farming, with the goal of establishing a sustainable agricultural workforce base.

The curriculum consisted of practical, hands-on programs that combined theory and practice, including: basic theory and technical practice of smart farming; live commerce using social media; understanding and application of therapeutic agriculture; cultivation of subtropical fruit trees; and basic farming techniques for various vegetable and fruit items.

In particular, the program focused on digital agricultural technology and developing online sales channels in line with the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and is expected to provide practical support for increasing farm income and enhancing competitiveness.

Lee Sangik, Governor of Hampyeong County, said, "I welcome your challenge as you embark on a new journey in agriculture," and added, "We will continue to provide tailored support, including technical training and on-site consultations, to help new farmers settle stably in rural areas and generate income."
