BNK Busan Bank will officially launch the 'Mobile Dongbaek Pass' service starting July 1. This will allow users to receive automatic refunds on public transportation fares without needing to carry a physical card.
On June 26, Busan Bank (President Bang Seongbin) announced the introduction of the Mobile Dongbaek Pass service based on Samsung Wallet, aiming to enhance the convenience and accessibility of Dongbaek Pass usage. Previously, the Dongbaek Pass required users to carry a physical Dongbaekjeon postpaid transportation card. However, going forward, users can register their Dongbaekjeon postpaid check card on Samsung Wallet and use the transportation card function without a physical card.
To use the service, users must complete the procedures for card issuance, Dongbaek Pass enrollment, and registration or modification of the eligible card for refunds through the Dongbaekjeon app during June. If these steps are completed, the refund benefits will be applied automatically starting in July.
Busan Bank explained that the physical card and the mobile card are recognized as independent payment methods, so only one of the two cards will be counted toward performance. Since Dongbaek Pass benefits are applied only to the card with higher performance, users need to choose and focus accordingly.
Lee Juhyung, Head of Digital Finance Group at Busan Bank, stated, "With the introduction of this service, Busan citizens can now use public transportation more conveniently," adding, "We will continue to improve our services so that Dongbaekjeon, Busan's representative local currency, can become a platform that provides tangible benefits in everyday life."
