Chosun University Hospital is facing opposition from its labor union after the hospital began pushing to relocate its administrative building to the funeral hall in order to create rest areas for medical staff.
According to Chosun University Hospital on June 25, the hospital is pursuing a reorganization of workspaces that involves moving departmental offices from the administrative building on the east side of the main hospital's 8th floor to the first-floor funeral parlor of the affiliated funeral hall building.
Previously, Chosun University Hospital had been rehiring retired professors as clinical specialists to fill the gap left by residents who withdrew during the recent conflict between doctors and the government.
The hospital has decided to provide new lounges for clinical specialists and residents within the main hospital building to shorten the movement routes for medical staff. As a result, the administrative building will have to vacate its current space and be relocated elsewhere.
The departments affected by this workspace reorganization include general affairs, labor, and insurance, involving about 50 employees. Consequently, a significant portion of Chosun University Hospital staff are concerned about potential side effects such as reduced work efficiency resulting from the relocation of the administrative building.
A representative of the hospital's labor union stated, "It is difficult to understand the unilateral decision to remove the administrative building from the main hospital without first improving the poor facility infrastructure," and added, "We will communicate the union's position to the hospital to prevent the management from making a one-sided decision."
Regarding this issue, a representative of Chosun University Hospital explained, "This matter is still under consideration, and nothing has been finalized yet."
