The KOSPI closed slightly higher, supported by net buying from individual investors.
On June 25, the KOSPI finished trading at 3,108.25, up 4.61 points (0.15%) from the previous day. The provisional trading volume for the day was 624.66 million shares, with a trading value of 18.7099 trillion won.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners recorded net sales of 500.5 billion won and 199 billion won, respectively, while individuals posted net purchases of 758.2 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and individuals each recorded net purchases of 470.8 billion won and 244.7 billion won, respectively, while foreigners recorded net sales of 709.9 billion won. Program trading saw net sales of 95.6 billion won in arbitrage trades and 303.3 billion won in non-arbitrage trades.
By industry, the electricity and gas sector surged by 9.43%, while construction rose by 3.69%, securities by 1.78%, electrical and electronics by 1.18%, distribution by 0.97%, real estate by 0.93%, non-metallic minerals by 0.54%, transportation and storage by 0.48%, telecommunications by 0.48%, paper and wood by 0.3%, insurance by 0.3%, and food, beverage, and tobacco by 0.26%. On the other hand, the IT services sector fell by 3.11%, machinery and equipment by 2.34%, general services by 1.13%, transportation equipment by 0.94%, and metals by 0.4%.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, more declined than rose. LG Energy Solution dropped by 0.83%, NAVER by 2.41%, Doosan Enerbility by 4.5%, KB Financial Group by 2.49%, Hanwha Aerospace by 4.36%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries by 5.72%, Celltrion by 0.43%, and Kakao by 1.42%. In contrast, Samsung Electronics rose by 1.32%, SK hynix by 2.69%, Hyundai Motor by 5.34%, and Kia by 4.33%.
On this day, 468 stocks advanced, 422 declined, and 47 remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ, meanwhile, slipped below the 800 mark, closing slightly lower. The KOSDAQ finished at 798.21, down 2.72 points (0.34%) from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners recorded net sales of 44 billion won and 149 billion won, respectively, while individuals posted net purchases of 210.7 billion won.
Among the top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, performance was mixed. EcoPro BM rose by 0.19%, HLB by 0.2%, PharmaResearch by 1.16%, Hugel by 2.72%, LIG ChemBio by 1.4%, LIG Noh Industry by 1.76%, and HPSP by 3.42%. In contrast, EcoPro fell by 1.84%, Rainbow Robotics by 5.87%, Peptron by 0.43%, Classys by 1.71%, and Samchundang Pharm by 6.06%.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1,363.0 won, up 1.6 won from the previous day.
