Expanding Opportunities for Practical Career Planning
Gyeongsangbuk-do Gumi Office of Education (headed by Nam Seonggwan) has taken steps to support the successful social integration of students eligible for special education.
Gyeongbuk Gumi Office of Education held the 2025 Gyeongbuk Western Region Special Education Students Career and Admission Briefing Session.
The Gumi Office of Education Special Education Support Center announced on June 25 that it held the "2025 Gyeongbuk Western Region Special Education Students Career and Admission Briefing Session," attended by approximately 180 participants, including special education students, their parents, and teachers from the western region of Gyeongbuk.
This event was organized to provide practical support for the transition to adulthood by offering career exploration and admission information to students eligible for special education.
Participating organizations included the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Gyeongbuk Developmental Disabilities Training Center, Gumi Hyedang School Specialized Course, Nazarene University Department of Rehabilitation and Independence, Daegu University Department of Special Creative Convergence, and Hosan University Department of Special Vocational Rehabilitation. They shared information on admission systems and entrance requirements, recruitment for customized trainees at vocational training institutions, examples of on-site job experiences, and success stories of senior special education students in their career paths.
The event focused not only on delivering information but also on practical career planning and strengthening future competencies. In particular, the vivid experiences shared by senior students with disabilities were said to have provided significant inspiration and motivation to the attendees.
Shin Unsik, Head of the Education Support Division, stated, "This briefing session has likely become an opportunity for students with disabilities to view their potential and future in a positive light," adding, "We will continue to strengthen customized career and admission support so that all students, regardless of disability, can realize their own dreams."
The Gumi Office of Education plans to continue expanding practical educational support policies that promote the independence and social participation of students with disabilities, based on a cooperative system with related organizations.
