Yongin Mayor Lee Sangil Begins Outreach to New Apartment Residents

'On-site Communication Busking for Apartment Residents': Addressing Transportation, Safety, and More
Starting with Hillstate Yongin Dunjeon Station in Gorim-dong, Nine Complexes to Be Visited by September

Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, has begun engaging in communication with residents of newly occupied apartment complexes. This initiative reflects his intention to directly listen to and address the inconveniences experienced by residents in new housing complexes, following the case last year in Yangji-myeon, Cheoin-gu, where residents suffered difficulties due to construction defects.

On the afternoon of the 24th, Mayor Lee visited the "Hillstate Yongin Dunjeon Station Apartment" in Gorim-dong, Cheoin-gu, where he spent about an hour talking with residents, listening to their concerns and inconveniences, and discussing possible improvements. This visit is in line with his plan to hold "On-site Communication Busking for Apartment Residents," aimed at improving the living environment in apartment complexes.

At the site, around 30 people?including city officials, members of the residents' representative council, and tenants?participated to discuss various complaints and suggestions covering all aspects of daily life, such as transportation, environment, safety, and welfare.

Mayor Lee stated, "About 80% of Yongin citizens live in apartment complexes," and added, "The city is working to make living spaces more pleasant and to improve living conditions, including transportation, for our citizens."

At the site, Mayor Lee listened to a wide range of opinions from residents, from minor inconveniences such as road subsidence, removal of weeds around street trees, and garbage collection, to larger issues like the installation of road sound barriers, sidewalk expansion, and the extension of metropolitan bus routes. In some cases, he gave immediate instructions to city officials on site to address certain complaints.

During the meeting, Mayor Lee also explained plans to expand key cultural infrastructure in Cheoin-gu, such as performance venues and a municipal art museum. Additionally, he introduced the progress of various railway and road network projects being promoted by the city in the Cheoin-gu area, including the extension of the Gyeonggang Line, the Semiconductor Line, the Pyeongtaek-Bubal Line, the Semiconductor Expressway, and the expansion of National Route 45.

Starting with this visit, Mayor Lee plans to visit a total of nine newly occupied apartment complexes in the city by September to listen to residents' opinions.
