Governor Kim Taeheum of Chungnam: "We Will Provide the Highest Honor to Korean War Veterans" Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province (center), attending the 75th anniversary ceremony of the Korean War held at the provincial office on the 25th, saluting. /Chungnam Province

On the 25th, Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, stated, "Chungnam Province will continue to provide the highest level of respect and honor to national patriots and their families."


Governor Kim emphasized this point while attending the 75th anniversary ceremony of the Korean War, which was held in the main conference room of the provincial office on this day.


In attendance at the event were Governor Kim; Kim Jicheol, Superintendent of the Chungnam Office of Education; Seo Jeongmi, Director of the Chungnam Western Veterans Affairs Office; Gyeong Geonyong (age 102, born in 1923), the oldest Korean War veteran in the province; as well as veterans, representatives from veterans' organizations, and approximately 130 other participants.


Governor Kim presented plaques of commendation to Kim Daeseong (age 95), a member of the Hongseong County branch of the Korean War Veterans Association; Cheon Ikgyu (age 91), a member of the Boryeong City branch of the Korean War Veterans Association; and Hwang Musaeng (age 88), president of the Geumsan County branch of the Korean War Veterans Association. These individuals were selected as contributors to the advancement of veterans' affairs in commemoration of Patriots and Veterans Month.


Governor Kim stated, "At the time, the veterans were also young people full of dreams, but they answered the call of the nation and sacrificed their youth on the battlefield." He added, "I feel endless gratitude for the patriotic devotion of our forebears, who left us a great nation and peace."


He especially emphasized, "Now, 75 years after the Korean War, the world still faces threats of war. In order to inspire patriotic devotion from our citizens in times of crisis, we must properly honor and support our veterans at all times."


Governor Kim further stated, "It is the duty of descendants to faithfully inherit and develop the will and achievements of our predecessors. Chungnam, with its strength, will continue to carry on the history of prosperity for Korea, so that your sacrifices are never in vain and your dedication is always remembered with pride."
