Discussion on Talent Development and Regional Settlement Solutions
with Korean Air, CJ, Hana Bank, Public Institutions, and Local Companies
The 2025 HR Innovation Forum, organized by the Dong-A University Career Plus Center (Director: Shin Yongtaek), was held on June 19, 2025, at the Avani Central Hotel in Busan. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Busan Metropolitan City, this forum, now in its second year, aimed to seek innovative HR strategies and explore ways to foster regionally tailored talent through industry-academia-government collaboration.
The forum saw the participation of representatives from major corporations such as Korean Air, KAI, CJ CheilJedang, Paradise Hotel, and Hana Bank, as well as key public institutions including Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Korea Housing Finance Corporation, Busan Port Authority, and Busan Transportation Corporation. The attendee list also included local companies such as Air Busan, Sungwoo Hitech, and Nexen, as well as alumni-founded businesses, providing a comprehensive platform for sharing HR trends and exchanging practical information.
The event featured presentations on outstanding HR cases from major companies, roundtable discussions, and HR networking sessions. These covered a wide range of HR topics, from recruitment strategies and talent development to labor management and promotion systems, all discussed in depth. In particular, strategies for increasing the "settlement" rate of young talent through collaboration between local universities and companies emerged as a key agenda item.
A notable feature was the operation of a "Ask Anything" consultation booth designed to enhance on-site effectiveness. Labor inspectors from the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office participated directly to consult with practitioners about their challenges. This new feature was introduced in response to participants' requests and received positive feedback for its practical, problem-solving focus.
An HR manager from a major corporation commented, "It was helpful to reduce the sense of isolation in HR and recruitment and to benchmark other companies' cases. Especially in times like these, when the connection between the region and companies is weakening, such gatherings are essential."
Dong-A University plans to use this forum not as a one-off event, but as a starting point for building a sustainable HR strategy ecosystem. President Lee Haewoo emphasized, "Universities must become platforms that nurture effective talent by reflecting the needs of industry. It is important for public institutions, universities, and companies to identify each other's needs and create points of connection."
Dong-A University intends to expand this HR Innovation Forum into a series of industry-specific HR strategy forums. Through these efforts, the university aims to address local workforce supply-demand mismatches and contribute to improving the quality of youth employment.
Dong-A University is holding the Industry-Academia-Government Linked 'HR Innovation Forum' and taking a commemorative photo.
