Geobukseom Marina Floating Dock to Open on July 14
The Marine Ecology Science Center, where visitors can experience a variety of marine ecosystems, will open on Geobukseom Island, a major marine tourist destination in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.

On June 24, the city of Siheung announced that it will open and begin operating the Marine Ecology Science Center at 35 Geobukseomseoro, starting from July 1.
The Marine Ecology Science Center, established to raise awareness of the importance of marine ecosystem conservation and to provide a variety of exhibitions and educational programs, is a marine complex cultural facility with two underground floors and three above-ground floors, totaling a gross floor area of 7,764 square meters. It features marine animal exhibition facilities, educational spaces, and a special exhibition hall.
On the first floor, there are exhibition and protection tanks where visitors can observe a variety of marine life and ecological environments from the west coast, including mudflat video content. The second floor is designed as a participatory educational and experiential space, featuring classrooms and the Oceanphilia Lab, an ecological experience area. The third floor houses a special exhibition hall, where exhibitions and themed special events will be held sequentially.
The center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is closed every Monday, as well as on January 1, Lunar New Year, and Chuseok. Exhibition viewing and program participation are available by advance reservation through the center's website. For more details, please refer to the center's website.
The city plans to designate the center as a marine animal rescue and treatment institution, and to expand its marine environmental research and conservation activities. In conjunction with the opening, the city will also offer a variety of educational programs, including docent tours, environmental education with veterinarians and aquarists, and special weekend programs.
Siheung Mayor Lim Byeongtaek stated, "The Marine Ecology Science Center will serve not only as an exhibition space, but also as an educational hub where we can collectively consider the conservation of marine ecosystems and the sustainability of the environment."

Meanwhile, the city also plans to open the Geobukseom Marina Floating Dock on July 14.
Geobukseom Marina is a complex marine tourism and leisure facility located within Lake Sihwa. The floating dock has a total of 48 berths, including 24 berths for general use and 24 berths for commercial use. Both private boat owners and marina-based business operators can use the dock.
In preparation for the dock's operation, the city is currently accepting applications from users until the 30th. Applicants will be screened on July 4, and the final selection will be made by lottery on July 9.
Eligible vessels are domestically registered water leisure craft between 6 and 10 meters in length. Certain types of vessels, such as inflatable boats, fishing boats, and personal watercraft, are excluded from the application. For commercial berths, individual business owners may apply for up to three berths, while corporate business owners may apply for up to five berths. Commercial berth applicants will be allocated berths based on an evaluation of their business plans.
