Korea Federation of SMEs and Ministry of Environment to Hold Briefing on Amendments to K-REACH and CCA Subordinate Regulations

In Part 1, the Chemical Substance Policy Division of the Ministry of Environment will introduce the amendments to the subordinate regulations of K-REACH, focusing on the reorganization of the notification substance management system, and the Korea Environment Corporation will present the new notification system being developed in line with the amended regulations. In Part 2, the Chemical Safety Division of the Ministry of Environment and the National Institute of Chemical Safety will provide guidance on the main amendments to the subordinate regulations of the CCA, including revisions to notifications for business operations, proposed changes to facility-related notifications, and improvements to quantity regulations. There will also be a Q&A session on the periodic inspection system, a topic of high interest to businesses.

The Korea Environment Corporation will also introduce various support programs to assist SMEs in complying with K-REACH and the CCA. In addition, one-on-one on-site consultations will be available in a separate area.

Yang Chanhoe, Head of the Innovation Growth Division at the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, "We have been consistently conveying the opinions of the SME sector regarding K-REACH and the CCA to the Ministry of Environment, and as the amended laws are set to take effect in August this year, there was a consensus on the need for preemptive communication between the SME sector and the Ministry of Environment. This led us to co-host the integrated briefing session," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Environment even after the session to ensure that SMEs across various industries can effectively respond to the subordinate regulations."

Park Yeonjae, Director-General of Environmental Health at the Ministry of Environment, said, "The reorganization of the K-REACH and CCA management systems is the result of prolonged discussion and cooperation among stakeholders from the public, industry, and government. The successful establishment of the new system is impossible without the active participation of the SME sector," adding, "We will continue communication and support to ensure that the results we have achieved together are effectively implemented in the industry."
