This contest was held over a two-week period from June 9 to June 20, aiming to discover innovative cases of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into all areas of public administration. The goal is to connect these ideas to patent applications and policy implementation under the name of Goyang City.

Goyang Special City organized this contest as part of a mid- to long-term strategy to systematically support the creativity and problem-solving abilities of public officials.

The submitted proposals included a variety of ideas for applying artificial intelligence (AI) across city administration, such as automating civil complaint responses and introducing chatbots, analyzing, linking, and automating administrative information, and improving citizen services.

On June 27, Goyang Special City will form an internal and external panel of judges, including the Planning and Policy Officer's AI Innovation Task Force, Goyang Research Institute, Goyang Industry Promotion Agency, and private sector experts, to conduct both quantitative and qualitative evaluations.

The evaluation criteria include technological feasibility, administrative suitability, creativity, and implementability. Additional points will be awarded based on the potential for policy integration.

The selected outstanding proposals will be announced in early July. The idea that receives the highest score will be further developed, including the preparation of a patent specification and administrative support, with the goal of officially filing a patent under the name of Goyang City in October. In addition, if a proposal is actually adopted as policy or successfully registered as a patent, further incentives such as commendation certificates and special leave will be provided.

Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "This contest is more than just an internal suggestion event; it is a practical initiative for Goyang City to advance as a special city for artificial intelligence (AI). I hope that ideas combining the technological imagination and administrative expertise of our public officials will become the foundation for leading the future administration of Goyang City."
