This rural volunteer activity will involve about 360 students, including the Student Council, the Central Club Association, and the student councils of each college. The volunteer activities will take place over five days and four nights, running until the 27th.
The target areas for this volunteer work are various villages in the Gochang and Buan regions. The volunteers plan to engage in a range of activities, including assisting with farm work, improving village environments, and caring for the elderly.
The launching ceremony featured a message of encouragement from Shin Sookkyung, Director of the Student Career and Employment Office, a representative prayer by Han Byungsoo, Director of the Mission and Volunteer Office, gender and human rights education by the Human Rights Center, safety education by the Student Council President, and a social service orientation. These systematic and substantial educational sessions were held to ensure the successful execution of the rural volunteer activities.
In particular, the ceremony prioritized student safety by providing practical safety education, including guidance on adequate hydration to prevent heat-related illnesses, appropriate rest periods, and emergency response procedures.
Shin Sookkyung, Director of the Student Career and Employment Office, stated, "I hope that through this rural volunteer activity, our students will practice mutual growth with the local community and come to appreciate the values of service and consideration."
Meanwhile, Jeonju University plans to continue fulfilling its role as an institution that fosters a sustainable future, in which the university and the local community grow together, by enabling students to provide practical assistance to the community through this rural volunteer activity.
