Jane Austen's 250th Birthday
Launch of "RE:mited EDITION"
Redesigned, Stylish Book Covers and Goods Released
On June 23, Kyobo Bookstore announced two special projects aimed at offering a fresh perspective on classic literature.
Under the theme "Classics with a Hip Twist," these projects reinterpret beloved literary works from past generations with a contemporary sensibility, aiming to engage with readers in new ways.
First, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, Kyobo Bookstore is releasing "RE:mited EDITION," a collaboration project that adds a touch of modern everyday style to classic literature. Kyobo Bookstore collaborated with illustrator Lee Yeon, who has 960,000 YouTube subscribers, to redesign Austen's masterpiece "Pride and Prejudice," creating a stylish book cover and a set of goods.
This edition is available in four types: a fake cover book, a book tote, a copybook, and a book cover. Customers who purchase the set will receive a limited-edition exclusive pouch and a welcome letter.
The "RE:mited EDITION" goods commemorating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth will be available in Kyobo Bookstore locations starting July 1. More details can be found on the official website.
A Kyobo Bookstore representative stated, "Literature can become a contemporary language for today's readers, transcending time," and added, "This event aims to propose a point where literature and design naturally meet in daily life, while also making literature more accessible through design and experience."
Meanwhile, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the world-renowned publisher Penguin Books, Kyobo Bookstore will introduce a limited-edition "Penguin Classics 90th Anniversary Book Cover" and hold a special literary exhibition. The specially designed book cover features the iconic orange and black colors of Penguin Classics, offering a modern reinterpretation of the authority of the classics through a stylish design.
