A New Physics Playground Created Together with the Public

A Public Participation Project for the Basic Science Hall
Ahead of Its Opening Next Year, Featuring Prototype Exhibitions

The National Science Museum announced on June 23 that it will carry out the remodeling project of the Basic Science (Physics Corner) section of the Science and Technology Hall, which is scheduled to officially open in early 2026, as a "project created together with the public."

The entire preparation process for the opening?including exhibition planning, production, and installation?will be transparently disclosed to visitors. The museum aims to actively incorporate visitors' creative ideas into the actual exhibitions, thereby creating a science space for everyone.

A New Physics Playground Created Together with the Public

The newly established Physics Corner will be created as a science culture space where visitors can physically experience and enjoy the complexities of physics, based on the core values of hands-on experience, strengthening science literacy, and connecting science to everyday life. Visitors will be able to directly engage with approximately 30 different exhibits, understand scientific concepts in context, and experience the joy of science.

The National Science Museum is currently offering a pre-opening of exhibition prototypes at the Science Town in the Science and Technology Hall. This pre-opening, which runs until July 13, is the first public presentation of unfinished exhibition prototypes and is intended to gather feedback from visitors.

Every Tuesday, the museum operates an "evolving exhibition" system in which exhibits are improved or replaced with new prototypes based on visitor feedback. As a result, visitors can experience something new each time they visit.

Visitors who experience the prototypes can propose a variety of ideas for the exhibits through a visitor participation event. There is also a "Physics Corner Word-of-Mouth" event, in which visitors can share their experiences on Instagram. Participants will have the chance to win small prizes through a drawing.

Kwon Seokmin, Director of the National Science Museum, said, "We hope that everyone will freely propose their brilliant ideas, and we will work together to create a science playground for all beyond the boundaries of the museum."
