The public parking lot established by Ulju County in Ulsan on the site of the old Unyang Terminal is showing a high utilization rate, contributing to alleviating local parking shortages and revitalizing the commercial district.
According to Ulju County, the Unyang Terminal Public Parking Lot, which opened last year and offers a total of 128 spaces (124 general spaces and 4 spaces for people with disabilities), is being used by an average of 980 vehicles per day and 29,382 vehicles per month. This figure accounts for more than 55% of all vehicles using public parking lots in the county.
In particular, its proximity to the Unyang Alps Market has made it a key parking infrastructure, with more than 1,800 vehicles using the lot on days when the five-day market is held.
The area around the temporary intercity bus terminal in Namburi nearby has been selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a target site for the 'Space Innovation Zone Leading Project.' Ulju County plans to pursue a space restructuring study through 2026, and will also review the removal of urban planning facility designation for the old terminal site, along with mid- to long-term development plans.
An official from Ulju County stated, "The public parking lot is providing practical convenience to local residents and merchants," adding, "We will continue to gather residents' opinions and establish development directions that suit local conditions."
