Public Lecture Draws About 200 Citizens and Receives Enthusiastic Response

This lecture was organized to promote a proper understanding of children with emotionally sensitive temperaments and to explore healthy parenting approaches. Choi Chihyun, a leading authority in the field of child mental health, was invited as the keynote speaker. He offered realistic and in-depth solutions to parenting concerns that parents face in daily life, which resonated strongly with the audience.
Choi emphasized that "sensitivity" should not be viewed as a negative trait, but rather as a potential strength reflecting a child's delicacy and sensitivity. He suggested a shift in perspective when viewing sensitive children.
Before the lecture, Oh Sanghun, head of the Yangju Mental Health Welfare Center, stated in his opening remarks, "Respecting and understanding the diverse temperaments of children forms the foundation for healthy growth," and added, "Yangju City will continue to operate a variety of programs to promote the mental health of children and adolescents."
During the subsequent Q&A session, Choi Chihyun and Oh Sanghun?who is also a professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital and the head of the Yangju Mental Health Welfare Center?engaged in open and sincere dialogue with participants about various parenting cases and concerns, providing practical advice. This session became a meaningful opportunity for parents, offering comfort, empathy, and guidance for parenting.
Mayor Yang Suhyun stated, "I hope this lecture has provided practical help and comfort to parents. We will spare no effort in providing accurate information and support regarding mental health," adding, "We will actively support children so that they can grow into healthy members of future society."
