Changwon Special City and Korean Medical Device Association Sign Agreement to Foster Real-Demand Based Medical Industry

Changwon Special City and the Korean Medical Device Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of a real-demand based medical device industry.

The Korean Medical Device Association is an organization comprised of over 1,300 medical engineering professionals responsible for the purchase, operation, and management of medical devices in hospitals nationwide, including advanced general hospitals. The association contributes to the advancement of the domestic medical industry and the realization of safe and efficient medical services.


The agreement, signed on June 20, aims to enhance the technological capabilities and expand the market reach of the regional medical device industry. It was established to build a collaborative network between medical device end-users and manufacturers, and to jointly promote demand-based product planning and development, product validation, and technical consulting.


The main points of the agreement include: support for medical device demand forecasting and product planning; establishment of a cooperative system between demand organizations and companies; technical consulting and validation support for performance improvement; joint hosting of seminars and exhibitions; and information exchange and promotional cooperation. The plan is to provide comprehensive support for product development and market entry that reflects the actual needs of the medical field.


Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "This agreement is an important first step toward building a demand-driven medical device industry ecosystem, which is the direction Changwon seeks to pursue." He added, "We will actively support local companies so that they can develop more competitive products that reflect the voices from the field and enter domestic and international markets stably."


Through this agreement, Changwon Special City plans to create a real-demand based medical device industry ecosystem and continue to implement various support policies to revitalize the local economy and secure future growth engines.
