Hope for Building a Warm Medical Ecosystem
Gwangju Sinsagae Eye Clinic announced on June 21 that CEO and Chief Ophthalmologist Kim Jaebong has donated 150 million won to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital to support the development of the region's medical infrastructure.
The donated funds were used for the construction of a new executive conference room within the hospital, which was named "Kim Jaebong Hall (JBK Hall)" in recognition of its significance. The opening ceremony for the new facility was held on June 11 at the Future Medical Innovation Center of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.
This donation is significant not only as a financial contribution, but also as a symbolic achievement representing cooperation and mutual growth among local medical institutions. The Future Medical Innovation Center, equipped with state-of-the-art conference facilities, is expected to serve as a core infrastructure for major policy decisions and future strategy planning at the hospital.
In addition, it is anticipated that the center will provide a venue for discussions on future development and for establishing collaborative networks with related organizations, thereby making a practical contribution to strengthening public healthcare and improving the quality of medical services in the region.
Kim Jaebong, CEO and Chief Ophthalmologist, graduated from Chonnam National University College of Medicine, served as a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Chonnam National University Hospital, and is currently serving as CEO of Gwangju Sinsagae Eye Clinic. He is recognized as a leading local healthcare professional, having provided community-based medical care and volunteer services for more than 30 years. With this donation, his total cumulative contributions have reached 200 million won.
Kim Jaebong stated, "Through collaboration with Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, which has been dedicated to the health of local residents, I wanted to help create a warmer medical ecosystem," and added, "I hope this donation will serve as a space for communication and growth among medical staff for many years to come."
Min Jeongjun, Director of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, said, "Kim Jaebong's act of sharing goes beyond simple material support; it is a profound expression of solidarity with the values and responsibilities of public healthcare, as well as trust in the future of medicine," and added, "Kim Jaebong Hall will become a central space in our hospital, embodying this spirit."
