On June 20, Josangrae, Governor of Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province, carried out on-site inspections of areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, including the Gaeryeong Reservoir in Godal-myeon, within the county.

Governor Jo focused on visiting agricultural production infrastructure, landslide-prone areas, and drainage pump stations. He checked in advance the resident evacuation systems, forest road drainage facilities, and aging drainage pump stations. Together with the heads of relevant departments, he directly verified the county's disaster preparedness and made every effort to prevent accidents caused by heavy rain during the monsoon season.

During a weekly meeting on June 16, Governor Jo had emphasized, "No policy is more important than the safety of our residents," and called for thorough maintenance of all facilities and project sites under the county's management in preparation for the monsoon season. On the morning of June 20, the county held a joint inspection meeting led by Vice Governor Jeong Changmo, bringing together the main and cooperating departments to prepare for heavy rain, while Governor Jo personally visited the sites.

At the inspection site, Governor Jo repeatedly stressed, "Thoroughly inspect all facilities closely related to residents' daily lives, D-grade reservoirs, drainage channels in agricultural production infrastructure, and village-level drainage facilities." He further emphasized, "In line with the government’s policy, we must establish a disaster preparedness system and conduct preemptive inspections to an extent that may even seem excessive."

Meanwhile, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the monsoon front is expected to expand to southern regions starting June 20, bringing rain to Jeju Island and the southern coast from June 22 to 24, and to the entire country on June 25.
