Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization held a 'Mid-term Review Meeting on APEC-related Projects' on June 20 in the organization's medium-sized conference room to support the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit.
The meeting, presided over by Kim Ilgon, Head of the Management Development Division, was attended by department heads and staff members from relevant divisions. The agenda included a review of the progress of a total of 20 projects worth 36.3 billion KRW, such as the improvement of nightscapes in the Bomun Tourism Complex, maintenance of roads and parking lots, and improvement of the surroundings of the conference venue, all in preparation for the APEC Summit. The meeting also served as a venue to discuss future directions for these initiatives.

The organization is currently implementing projects in phases, focusing on the area around Bomun Lake and major access roads. These projects include the installation of nightscape lighting, nighttime media content, and symbolic sculptures. In addition, the organization is strengthening cooperation with the private sector and local governments to enhance the global competitiveness of Gyeongbuk tourism, taking the APEC Summit as an opportunity.
At the meeting, Kim Ilgon emphasized, "The APEC Summit is a golden opportunity for Gyeongbuk to emerge as a global hub for culture and tourism. I urge each department to thoroughly prepare so that all ongoing projects are completed on time and without safety incidents, and to do their utmost so that both citizens and tourists can truly experience the changes."
Meanwhile, the organization plans to intensify its efforts by conducting weekly reviews of project progress starting in July, in order to fully support the successful hosting of the APEC Summit.
