Road Fine Dust Reduction Method
Successful in Attracting Investment
Hoseo University announced on June 20 that Professor Kim Hyukjung from the Department of Disaster Safety Systems was selected as one of the Top 20 R&D Achievements at the "2025 Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Exchange Conference" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
On the previous day, Professor Kim presented on the topic of "Development and Demonstration Research of Road Fine Dust Reduction Technology" at COEX in Seoul, introducing a permeable concrete method that applies photocatalytic functions.
This method was recognized for its technological distinctiveness, as it enables road pavement materials to decompose nitrogen oxides (NOx), thereby reducing fine dust.
The technology was transferred to the Carbon Neutral Road Construction Technology Institute (CTI), which was founded by Professor Kim. The institute has been valued at approximately 10 billion KRW and has successfully attracted investment. Currently, follow-up research is underway to integrate carbon-neutral recycled materials.
Professor Kim Hyukjung stated, "By applying this technology to pedestrian-centered public infrastructure, I aim to contribute to realizing a carbon-neutral circular economy model and ESG values."
Meanwhile, CTI is pursuing entry into both government and private construction markets through agreements with companies such as POSCO E&C and DEARS Group.
