Kumho Petrochemical Launches Customized Orthoses Support Program for Individuals with Severe Disabilities

Assistive Device Support Continues Since 2008

On this day, Baek Jonghoon, CEO of Kumho Petrochemical, along with company executives and employees, visited Hansarang Village, a facility under the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation located in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. They delivered the sponsorship funds in person and spent time communicating with facility staff and residents.

The orthoses produced with this sponsorship are customized products that reflect the physical characteristics and living environments of individuals with severe disabilities. They include special wheelchairs and posture support devices equipped with a urethane-based 'inner' (customized posture maintenance device). While these devices help correct posture and prevent body deformation, they can be financially burdensome due to the need for regular replacement and high costs. For this reason, Kumho Petrochemical is supporting their production.

Since 2008, Kumho Petrochemical has continued this initiative in partnership with the Seoul Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled, and has been expanding the scale of support each year. Starting with a sponsorship of 34 million KRW in the first year, the cumulative amount of support has reached 920 million KRW as of this year.

Meanwhile, CEO Baek, who attended the delivery ceremony, stated, "For individuals with severe disabilities, orthoses are not just tools but essential devices that make daily life possible," and added, "We will continue to provide ongoing support and responsible sharing for socially vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities."
