In preparation for the completion and full-scale operation, on June 19, County Governor Sim Min personally visited the main project site at Seongsusan Natural Recreation Forest, where he experienced key facilities firsthand and conducted a comprehensive inspection of safety, operational requirements, and areas for improvement.
The forest leisure facility project, which is being completed this time, has been underway since 2021 with a total project cost of 6 billion KRW (3 billion KRW from the province and 3 billion KRW from the county). The main facilities include a Forest Leisure Experience Support Center, a treetop observatory, a single-rope movement facility (zipline), and a roller coaster-type aerial movement facility. Final construction work is currently in progress.
Currently, the county has acquired the previously privately owned Seongsusan Natural Recreation Forest, demolished outdated facilities, and is promoting the construction of a new main Forest Recreation Hall and remodeling of the annex. Since last year, the facility has been officially opened and is in operation.
The main Forest Recreation Hall is a three-story building. The first floor features a seminar room and two guest rooms accessible for people with disabilities, while the second and third floors each have five rooms, for a total of twelve rooms. The annex also offers rooms that can accommodate up to eight to ten people, making it popular among group visitors.
In particular, the facility has recently gained recognition as a highly preferred accommodation for tourists due to lodging discounts being offered in celebration of the 2025 Year of Visit Imsil. There are also five forest cabins, one camping support center, and ten camping sites in operation. The site is drawing attention for its rare triangular-shaped cabins and sunken camping support center, which are uncommon in Korea.
Additionally, a barefoot walking trail has recently opened, allowing visitors to enjoy both nature and health benefits. The trail spans a total length of 1.15 kilometers and consists of two sections of loess paths, enabling visitors to experience the pleasure and health benefits of walking barefoot. With these developments, Seongsusan Natural Recreation Forest is expected to become a key hub for forest recreation and multi-experience complexes.
Governor Sim Min stated, "We will prioritize ensuring the safety of the facilities before completion, meticulously inspecting every detail to eliminate any safety concerns and finish the construction. We will also conduct sufficient trial operations and establish an operational manual so that, when the forest leisure facility opens, visitors can enjoy unique experiences and fun."
