This visit, organized by the German Smart Living & Health Center, was arranged to explore the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of smart welfare and senior housing, as both nations face aging societies.

The delegation included 22 experts and company representatives in the healthcare and senior housing sectors, such as Mario Chaja, President of the Berlin branch of the German Red Cross, and Christian Graf, CEO of the German Smart Living & Health Center.

First, the delegation visited the Seoul Transport Information Center and the Seoul Senior Welfare Center to review Seoul's digital-based welfare administration system and service models for the elderly. They then visited the premium residential care facility ‘CareDoc Care Home’ and KB Golden Life Care Silver Town ‘Pyeongchang County’ to observe ICT-based smart care services and premium silver town operation cases. They also discussed cooperation measures in the senior real estate and urban renewal sectors with Kim Deokgi, professor at Dongguk University Law School; Shin Yongho, Head of Development Planning at Haeahn Architecture; and Choi Younghak, Director at IGIS Asset Management. On the final day, the delegation visited the showroom of AI healthcare specialist ‘Limo’ and the National Rehabilitation Center to experience next-generation rehabilitation and healthcare technologies in the field.

Mario Chaja, President of the Berlin branch of the German Red Cross, said, “I was very impressed by the culture of respecting the elderly in Korean society and the mobile solutions that support a safe and independent life for seniors,” adding, “Through this visit, the German Red Cross also aims to further develop senior policies based on human dignity and the smart technologies to realize them.”

Marie Antonia von Schoeneburg, CEO of KGCCI, emphasized, “The delegation’s visit to Korea is a meaningful example that demonstrates the potential for cooperation between Korea and Germany in the face of rapid population aging,” and added, “Korea’s smart care technologies are also receiving high interest in Germany. KGCCI will continue to serve as a bridge to facilitate active exchange of knowledge and experience between the two countries.”
