A Strong Start for First-Time Fathers on Their Parenting Journey
On June 21 at 10 a.m., Ulsan City will hold the '2025 Ulsan 100 Fathers Group 7th Inauguration Ceremony and Cultural Event' at the main auditorium of Ulsan Library (Nam-gu, Kkotdaenari-ro).
About 190 people, including 60 members of the '100 Fathers Group 7th Class' and their families, will attend the inauguration ceremony.
The event will include an introduction to the Fathers Group activities and the 7th class pledge, followed by a magic show and a family musical that both children and families can enjoy together.
The '100 Fathers Group' is operated as part of the 'Local Government Leading Low Birthrate Response Awareness Improvement Project,' jointly promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ulsan City, and the Ulsan Branch of the Planned Population Federation of Korea.
This year's 7th class consists of 100 first-time fathers with children born between 2017 and 2022, who were selected through an open recruitment process in April.
Since May, these fathers have been participating in weekly online parenting assignments in five areas: education, play, daily life, health, and relationships. With the inauguration ceremony, they will also begin full-scale offline (in-person) activities.
Until November, the city plans to operate various programs such as parenting guidance (mentoring), discussion meetings, and family experiential activities visiting Ulsan's natural and cultural spaces, in order to encourage fathers' active participation in parenting.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "The 100 Fathers Group is a valuable program that helps first-time fathers build confidence in parenting and grow together with their children," and added, "We hope this inauguration ceremony will serve as a starting point for fathers to strengthen their commitment to parenting, and that it will lead to continued interest and participation in the future."
