Bae, Kim & Lee LLC announced on June 20 that it has launched the 'Governance Solution Center', which will comprehensively address corporate governance issues, shareholder disputes, and capital market regulations. The center will be led by managing partner Seo Dongwoo, an expert in corporate governance.
Bae, Kim & Lee explained that the launch of the center was prompted by the growing importance of securing the capability to proactively respond to changes in the business environment. The firm noted that as the trend of shareholder activism accelerates, and with the inauguration of the new government, there is a high likelihood of amendments to the Commercial Act and the Capital Markets Act, focusing on governance reform and the protection of minority shareholder rights.
The center will provide a one-stop solution to help companies comply with newly introduced regulations, advance and enhance the transparency of their governance structures, and stabilize management control. Through its 'four-stage governance solution' system, the center plans to continuously monitor both internal and external risks from the outset and to operate a rapid response system in the event of disputes.
The Governance Solution Center is comprised of corporate legal experts with extensive experience in governance reform advisory (Seo Dongwoo, Yoon Sungjo), corporate litigation specialists (Kwon Soonik, Shin Shinho), and management control dispute response experts (Kim Sungsoo, Ahn Youngsoo, Bae Yongman, Kim Kyungsoo).
