The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 19th, "We express grave concern over North Korea and Russia's continued illegal cooperation, including the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, based on the 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' treaty, which constitutes an ongoing violation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions." The ministry added, "We urge North Korea and Russia to immediately halt their illegal military cooperation."
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marking the first anniversary of the signing of the 'North Korea-Russia Treaty' on this day, said, "Cooperation between Russia and North Korea must be conducted in a manner that strictly adheres to UNSC resolutions and international law, and does not threaten peace and security on the Korean Peninsula or around the world."
The official further stated, "The government will continue its efforts to achieve substantive progress toward peace on the Korean Peninsula and the resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue," and urged, "We call on North Korea to respond to these efforts and on Russia to play a constructive role for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula."
On June 19, 2024, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a summit and signed the 'Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.' Since then, the two countries have continued illegal military cooperation, demonstrating their 'blood alliance,' including the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia. Recently, it has been reported that North Korea additionally sent 1,000 engineering troops and 5,000 construction workers to the Kursk region of Russia for infrastructure reconstruction.
