Sangmin Park, a professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital, has been appointed as the new presidential physician for President Lee Jaemyung.
On June 19, spokesperson Kang Yujeong held a briefing and introduced Professor Park, stating, "Professor Park develops and provides evidence-based, comprehensive medical services tailored to different stages of life for young adults, the elderly, cancer survivors, and patients with complex chronic diseases." She also noted that he has received several awards, including the Pfizer Medical Award from the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences.
Professor Park graduated from Seoul Science High School and Seoul National University College of Medicine. He holds a doctorate from Seoul National University College of Medicine and completed a fellowship in international health at Harvard University. He has previously served as Head of the Quality of Life Improvement Research Department at the National Cancer Center, Director of Research Planning at the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency, Head of the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital, and Director of the Health Promotion Center at Seoul National University Hospital.
