Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the opening of the urban railway, Busan Transportation Corporation is spreading warmth throughout the city. The corporation is accelerating its all-encompassing social contribution efforts, not only addressing welfare blind spots but also engaging in community-based volunteer activities.

On June 19, Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced that during the first half of this year, it actively fulfilled its social responsibility as a public enterprise by carrying out a variety of social contribution activities, including supporting welfare institutions, providing daily necessities, assisting transportation-vulnerable individuals, and conducting environmental clean-up campaigns.

The corporation delivered approximately 20 million won worth of donations and daily necessities to 30 local welfare institutions and households of elderly people living alone. In addition, it organized 11 walking and outing programs for people with disabilities and seniors, and made six visits to the homes of elderly people living alone, providing both emotional support and daily living assistance.

The corporation also strengthened its connection with local communities. It continued its practical initiatives as a "public enterprise among citizens" by supporting soccer and baking classes for people with disabilities, serving meals at senior centers 16 times, delivering lunchboxes 19 times, and conducting environmental clean-up activities 21 times.

The "Housing Welfare Improvement Project," in collaboration with Busan Bank, has produced tangible results. The corporation completed improvements to the living environment for 108 households in old houses in four districts?Sasang, Saha, Dongnae, and Haeundae?and plans to expand the project to Busanjin-gu starting in July.

On June 14, the corporation also conducted a free meal service near Busan City Hall in partnership with Busan Bappeo Nanum Community. At this event, warm meals were provided to more than 500 seniors, and employees of the corporation voluntarily participated in on-site service such as serving food and washing dishes. A donation of 2 million won in the corporation's name was also delivered at the site.

President Lee Byungjin stated, "The reason Busan's urban railway has been able to serve as the citizens' means of transportation for 40 years is thanks to the love of the citizens," adding, "We will continue to do our best not only to stabilize the operation of the urban railway, but also to realize the social values of sharing and mutual prosperity."
