South Korea Records 1,301,000 Millionaires, Ranking 10th
United States Tops the World with 23,830,000 Millionaires
The number of millionaires in South Korea reached 1.3 million last year, ranking 10th among 56 major countries worldwide.
According to the "2025 Global Wealth Report" released by Swiss investment bank UBS on June 18 (local time), the number of South Koreans with assets of at least $1 million (1.375 billion won) was tallied at 1,301,000 last year, up from 1,295,674 the previous year.
By region, in the Asia-Pacific, Japan and South Korea were followed by Taiwan (759,000), Hong Kong (647,000), and Singapore (331,000).
Among the 56 advanced and developing countries surveyed, the United States had the largest number of millionaires, with 23,831,000.
This figure accounts for 39.7% of all millionaires worldwide. It is four times higher than China, which ranked second with 6,327,000 millionaires. The number of millionaires in the United States also exceeds the combined total of France (2,897,000), Japan (2,732,000), Germany (2,675,000), and the United Kingdom (2,624,000), which ranked third to sixth, respectively.
In particular, the number of millionaires in the United States increased by 379,000 over the past year. Including weekends, this means that an average of 1,000 new millionaires were created each day.
