Hanwha Ocean and the Daewoo Shipbuilding Chapter of the Gyeongnam Branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union agreed on June 18 to withdraw all current lawsuits and complaints against each other.
According to Hanwha Ocean, this agreement was reached as both labor and management recognized that building a cooperative labor-management relationship is essential for the company's sustainable growth and for improving employee rights.
The labor and management parties also pledged to continue resolving issues through dialogue and compromise, and to create a mutually beneficial workplace where both management rights and labor rights are respected.
A Hanwha Ocean representative stated, "We have reached a model agreement for a sustainable and cooperative labor-management relationship," adding, "We will also work to smoothly conclude the ongoing wage and collective bargaining negotiations and foster productive labor-management consultations and a mutually beneficial partnership."
